Apply narrative theory to the opening scenes of Attack The Block and Slumdog Millionaire Attack The Block In the opening scene of ATB it includes the theory by Claude Levi-Strauss of binary opposites. He believes that all narratives have to be driven forward by a conflict that was caused by a series of opposing forces, e.g. a hero and a villain, until finally a sort of balance between them, or a resolution is achieved. I n ATB the binary opposites are between older and youth until they have to come together at the end to save the block. Sam is shown as a positive and good character from her character expression and movement, the way she is on edge with all of the banging and shouting. also the way she dresses in light coloured clothing resembling a well behaved upstanding character. whereas the youths are wearing very dark and covered clothing resembling negative and bad behavour. they are also very confident and almost arrogant about themselves and making out that they run th
