Location Recces: The location I would have filmed my coarse work in would have been in a wood during the day with no one around. I chose this location because I wanted my coarse work to have a creepy and eerie feel to it and I thought that a deserted wood would have been the best place to achieve this.     Character Profile: The character would be a woman wearing all white running through the woods away from something that the woman and audience cannot see. She then runs into someone who is wearing all black with a hood(we don't see there face). they then take off the hood to reveal there identity, but instead of being another character its the same actor who is wearing white but they are wearing black symbolising the negative thoughts of the teenager. at first the teenager wearing white is afraid and confused but then she faces up to her negative thoughts and overcomes them. the whole opening scene symbolises that you have to face up to your fears and thoughts and you cannot ru

Horror Film: Task 1 Research coarse work

Horror   A Quit Place Opening Scene  We learn that the characters cant make noises for some unknown reason which makes it more creepy and build suspense.  We are introduced to the first 5 characters who we can assume will be the main characters  in the film and whatever disruption of the equilibrium will happen its going to effect them the most. The setting is a deserted shop and road with a path of sand on which is not normal for the audience therefore making it more creepy. Also a bridge were there son gets killed by the unknown monster that the audience meet for the first time.  The look/style/aesthetic is very old and rustic in the story opening. This implies to the audience that something bad has happened in order for there to be no one around and for all the cars to be really dirty which implies they haven't been use in a long time. The conventions of a horror film is a vulnerable woman by herself, a unknown male figure in the background, chase scene where the victim fa

Apply narrative theory to the opening scenes of Attack The Block and Slumdog Millionaire

Apply narrative theory to the opening scenes of Attack The Block and Slumdog Millionaire Attack The Block In the opening scene of ATB it includes the theory by Claude Levi-Strauss of binary opposites. He believes that all narratives have to be driven forward by a conflict that was caused by a series of opposing forces, e.g. a hero and a villain, until finally a sort of balance between them, or a resolution is achieved. I n ATB the binary opposites are between older and youth until they have to come together at the end to save the block. Sam is shown as a positive and good character from her character expression and movement, the way she is on edge with all of the banging and shouting. also the way she dresses in light coloured clothing resembling a well behaved upstanding character. whereas the youths are wearing very dark and covered clothing resembling negative and bad behavour. they are also very confident and almost arrogant about themselves and making out that they run th

Daniel Chandlers Conventions Of Genre

Daniel Chandlers Genre Theory Conventional theory's of genre tend to be based on the notion that they constitute particular conventions of content (such as themes or setting) and/or (including structure or style) which are shared by the texts which are regarded as belonging to them. Chandlers Conventions Of Romcom A typical 'boy meets girl' scenario. Romantic Comedies usually reflect the expectations of most audience members who are woman, as the characters in the film usually meet unexpectedly in a romantic setting.  The protagonist, is normally a female but some exceptions have the male as the protagonist. The female is usually the protagonist because female audience can empathise easily with a female character rather than male character. This is because the audience can connect with the film.  Often some sexual innuendo involved in the script. Romantic comedies are rated '12' and '15' to relate to the appropriate audience m

Task 7 GCSE style question

How are young female characters represented in Spirited Away? At the start of the film Chihiro is represented as bieng a worried, dependent of others and afraid. This can be seen when she is nervous of the tunnel that her dad and mum want to go through even when they say that is wil be ok.In this scene she conforms to stereotypes becuase she is a scared young girl.In this scene the lighting is used to show how Chihiro is feeling, scared and worried, which are dark emotions. The director here wants to show the audience what the steriotype of a young girl is. In another scene she is represented as being the complete oposite, strong and brave. This can be seen when she has to go up against the monster in the salon. This shows a change from weak and fraile to strong and brave. In this scene she goes agianst the stereotype of a young girl becuase she is independent and liberated. The director here believes in and  want to show the audience that even young girls can go opposite there st
