Daniel Chandlers Conventions Of Genre

Daniel Chandlers Genre Theory Conventional theory's of genre tend to be based on the notion that they constitute particular conventions of content (such as themes or setting) and/or (including structure or style) which are shared by the texts which are regarded as belonging to them. Chandlers Conventions Of Romcom A typical 'boy meets girl' scenario. Romantic Comedies usually reflect the expectations of most audience members who are woman, as the characters in the film usually meet unexpectedly in a romantic setting.  The protagonist, is normally a female but some exceptions have the male as the protagonist. The female is usually the protagonist because female audience can empathise easily with a female character rather than male character. This is because the audience can connect with the film.  Often some sexual innuendo involved in the script. Romantic comedies are rated '12' and '15' to relate to the appropriate audience m

Task 2 - Applying you knowlegde

Watch the opening scene of any movie. It can be a copy of a movie you have, or one of the links below. Write an analysis of three camera shots/angles/movements used. These camera movements and shots comes from a acion film written and directed by Edgar Wright called baby driver in 2017. Dolly camera: This camera movement allows you to easily follow characters in a stable position because of the way is moves across a stable track on the ground. This makes the audience feel like they are actually they walking along side the actor. Eye level shot: This shot is where the camera is positioned as though it is a human actually observing a scene, so that the actors heads are on a level with the focus and the camera will be placed approximately five to six feet from the ground. This is also a good way for the audience to see how the character is feeling through character expression and movement. slumdog millionaire ending analsis

A Hollywood ending is… A conventional ending in a film, typically regarded as sentimental or simplistic and often featuring an improbably positive outcome Watch the clips and consider how this is true of these films Is this true of Slumdog Millionaire? Why? I think that it is a typical Hollywood ending because both of the main character get what they want (guy gets girl) making it a positive outcome and also then makes the audience happing with the ending like in Hollywood films.  Slumdog Millionaire has the perfect Hollywood ending I think it is a perfect ending because its a happy ending, Jamal and Latika are together. The man gets the girl that he has been trying to get for the whole film. also after everything they have been through with other characters that the audience also watches they are now both happy and get what they want . It is not appropriate to consider the ending to Slumdog Millionaire a ‘Hollywood ending' Some people might not think that it is an app
