Divergent   In the scene 'welcome to dauntless' In the movie 'Divergent' mise-en-scene (props, costume, hair/make-up, lighting, setting and character expression and movement) is used to create meaning. In this scene the props of the tall sky scrappers gives it the sense of danger and being fearless which is what the faction dauntless is all about. Mise-En-Scene The costume in this scene shows all of the new initiates in there different faction clothing, abnegation-grey, amity-orange/yellow, candor-black/grey, dauntless-black, erudite-navy blue. this shows that some of them are new to this kind of environment and might be nervous because they are doing activities that are completely against what they are comfortable with.   The hair and make-up is all quite similar. Ice Dance Mise-en-scene Setting - Kim starts in her bedroom where everything is very normal and basic but then when she goes outside because she sees a bright light it is the complete opposite because of Edward and the ice angel he is trimming with is abnormal hands which makes you feel that he is not normal like Kim. Hair and Make-up- Edwards hair and make-up is very messy and looks like it isn't as thought out as Kims.When you look at Kim however it is the completely diffent, every piece of hair is perfectly styled and her make-up is also perfect. This make it feel like he isn't normal and is different compared to Kim. Costume- Kim : Her costume seems very over perfect. It also blends in with the white walls I her bedroom. Representation Of Ethnicity, Disability/Ability Or Class/Status Bend It Like Beckham   In the first clip from this scene the girl is represented as less able to play football compare to the boys. And the boys are represented as more able and in a higher class.   This is shown by character expression and movement (an element of mise-en-scene) of the males with no tops on shouting and laughing a young teen Asian girl playing football.By the background we can tell that the scene is filmed in a church yard probably in the UK on a summers day.   By this scene the Asian girl is represented as unable to play football like the boys which suggests that men are better football players than girls, because of this she's also represented as being in a lower class than the males.
